The documentary “Dormitory” Wins the Grand Prize

Last year, I worked intensively on the sound post-production for the documentary film Dom Studenta (Dormitory), directed by Filip Gierlach. The film recently won the award for best documentary at the “Człowiek w zagrożeniu” Media Festival.

To capture the lives of students striking against the sale of a well-known dormitory at Jagiellonian University, the director locks himself inside the building with them. For 13 days, the protesters face not only a lack of electricity and hot water, but also clashes with the authorities, police sent in by the university, threats of repercussions, and internal conflicts—and yet they still have to eat breakfast, wash their socks, and send their lecturer an overdue paper.
