On September 17, 2024, on the anniversary of the USSR’s attack on Poland and the anniversary of the escape of the Polish government and commander-in-chief in the face of aggression by Germany, the Soviet Union and the Slovak puppet state, I published recordings entitled collectively titled „Sanacja”.
These are multi-channel field recordings that I made in August 2022 and 2024 in heavy combat bunkers in Krzyżowa in the Żywiec region.
These bunkers were hurriedly built in 1939 to prevent German aggression which eventually occurred on September 1, 1939, but the bunkers crews received orders to retreat on September 3, 1929.
The bunkers did not experience any combat and have remained in good condition to this day. When I visited it for the first time, it was raining. Rain was hitting bottles and cans that someone had thrown through the hole in the concrete roof. Percussive sounds bounced off the thick concrete walls. Outside sounds are rarely heard.
I recorded the bunkers by placing the microphones in various corners of the bunkers. I then mixed the result of such a recording session at home.
The recording can be called a multi-channel intermicrophone performance/spatial music. Enjoy!
