Presentation of field recordings (Mirt & Ter, Maciej Wirmański, Filip Szałasek)

On 30 November 2025 at 6 p.m., the Laboratory at the Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle will host a presentation of field recordings made by Magda Ter, Tomek Mirt and myself. The event will be hosted by Filip Szałasek. Admission is free.

At the invitation of Michał Libera, music curator at the Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle, I visited the place in August and October this year. During my visits, I made field recordings of spaces that are not usually accessible to visitors: the engine room, ventilation room, water rooms, transformer station, server rooms, ventilation shafts, technical and communication corridors. These places are located in the basement of the Castle, the only spaces where you can physically touch the real walls and foundations of the original building. Thanks to them, all CSW installations can function, and although they are a source of noise, their presence in this hidden place guarantees that employees ‘above’ and visitors can function in relative silence, peace and comfort.

The evening will open with a lecture by Filip Szałasek, author of the book Nagrania terenowe (Field Recordings) and numerous initiatives addressing the phenomenon. After the presentation, he will also hold a discussion with us.
