Honourable mention in the Jerzy Tuszewski Competition

I am happy to announce that my field recording entitled ‘Przejdziem Wisłę, przejdziem Wartę’ (‘We’ll cross the Vistula, we’ll cross the Warta’, words from Polish National Anthem) received an honourable mention in the Jerzy Tuszewski Documentary Sound Form Competition in 2025.

‘Przejdziem Wisłę, przejdziem Wartę’ is a recording I made on 2 November 2022 in Poronin, on the square in front of the Municipal Cultural Centre (formerly the Lenin Museum). On that day, at the request of the commune head, children from a nearby kindergarten were brought to the square to sing the national anthem. The audio-video recording made by the promotion department staff was meant to be posted on the commune’s social media.

The recording shows preparations for the recording, attempts by the commune head and the staff to get the preschoolers under control, and the finale in the form of the first verses of the anthem being sung.
